Welcome to the Hotel California

The actual Hotel California is located in Todos Santos which is about a one hour drive from Cabo. Parker and I went to see it the last time we were in Cabo but we didn't make it this time. We did, however, have a very memorable experience with the song which bears its name. All of the Davis family decided we would try the steak and lobster at a local place called "The Sleeping Lobster" it was supposed to be affordable and delicious. (It ended up being insanely expensive and tasted...decent.) Anyway, while we were eating several little groups of guitar playing locals came by the table asking if they could play a song for us. (Happens all the time, every night. I even considered earning a few pesos myself this way...if only I could play the guitar...) We finally allowed one of the duos to sing for us, unfortunately it was at exactly the same time some other patrons had put money in the jukebox. The owner came over and asked them to leave but, instead of leaving they told us they could also sing the song that was playing, "Hotel California." Everyone agreed to let them play and boy are we glad they did. I'm telling you that is one experience I will never forget. The eagles singing the classic in one ear, and our Mexican musicians in the other. HILARIOUS. It gets better. Eventually everyone at our table was singing along, I'm telling you it was the funniest thing I have seen in a while. A family from Utah singing along with two random Mexicans who knew MOST of the words in English. I will laugh about that night for years to come!
