Apartment living

It's days like today when I truly bemoan living in an apartment. Between the lady upstairs who vacuums at least twice a day and the dueling leaf blowers outside her window, sleep has been hard to come by today for Natalie. I have learned a new trick though, when she's fussy and restless, if I put her in front of the mirror she will smile and talk to her reflection for quite a while. It's hilarious but the best part is that it works every time!
We had a couple of Parker's friends over for dinner the other night. Parker knows the guy from school but hadn't met his wife yet. It was interesting because they are of a different faith but he is very curious about all religion, especially ours. He has no intention of leaving his faith and neither do we, so the conversation was more of each side explaining their beliefs to the other. I am glad for the opportunity I had to view my beliefs through somebody else's eyes. It was a wake-up call to me of some of the things I need to do but more importantly, of how grateful I am for my testimony. I am glad I had developed it and become truly converted early in my life so that I do not have to try to find the gospel now. It was, however, painfully obvious that my maintenance plan needs a little tweaking!
Kevin called a couple of days ago and we were trying to figure out travel plans for Thanksgiving. Then he asked if we were coming THIS weekend to "watch Josh do some magic on Adam." It took me a minute to figure out he meant for Josh to set Adam apart as a teacher. I can't believe Adam is 14. Crazy. Anyway, that made me think back to when the kids were little and the whole family went to the open house of the Spokane temple. When the kids asked Kevin what "that" was (pointing to the baptismal font) he responded, "That's the hot tub." Okay, so I probably shouldn't think it's funny but I can still see them trying to process that answer. Don't worry, we told them the truth.
Natalie and I drove down to the ocean yesterday. It was such a nice day and we watched the boats and the birds and all of the people out walking. It was pretty chilly so we mostly watched everything from the car window. If only it had been a little warmer out we would have been able to go outside and stay longer! Oh well, I'm just grateful it wasn't raining! I can't wait for winter to come and go so the days will get longer and warmer and we can go play outside.
Hmmm, I think she's finally asleep. I think I'll go tackle the mountain of laundry that's calling my name.

Okay, I found your blog through Angie's blog and hope you don't mind me checking it out and commenting. {You're probably thinking to yourself, "Why on earth did I not set my blog to private?") Anyways, I just wanted to tell you that your baby girl, Natalie is absolutely gorgeous. I'm so happy for you and so glad you are able to stay home with her. I'm with you on apartments--I hate having to hear noise from neighbors. Then again, we are in an apartment right now and I think we are the loudest people by far. Our neighbors just moved out so we may have scared them away.

Camery, every time I hear you talk about the church it strengthens my testimony. I know that sounds silly, but you have a way of making me think about things just a little differently. Thank you....

So this will be kind of random because you have no clue who I am... But I am one of Candace's friends and just wanted to offer a little advice... My baby would wake up at every little sound... Even me shutting the dryer door downstairs... So we went and bought a fan. A really noisy fan and it drowned out all the noise during her nap... It has been a lifesaver!!!
