No such luck

As it turns out, we will be moving. Luckily, it's just up the road, but a move is still a move. This will be our fifth move in three years and we have reduced our possessions to the "essentials" so it shouldn't be so bad. Also we are lucky that Parker has strong friends with trucks who are willing to help and that my aunt and cousin are willing to come help me clean. I don't want to even think about doing this move without help. We really like the new place. It's a bit bigger and the floor plan is great, but the best part is that we don't have to switch wards. In fact, we are even closer to the chapel. This is going to make it harder for me to rationalize to Parker why we're late to sacrament on Sunday mornings!
It has been soo rainy and wet this week. On Tuesday there was record rainfall, the roads were flooded and rivers were overflowing, it was insane. I went to the mall to meet a friend and in order to get from my car to the mall I had to run about 100 yards. I have not run at that speed for longer than I can remember. (Maybe recess in the third grade?) As long as I live, I will not forget the look on Natalie's little face as she tried to figure out what in the world had come over me. Poor thing didn't know what had hit her!
Parker has finals coming up so that's kept him pretty busy. Unfortunately, we are both so excited about Christmas in Mexico that it's been our biggest distraction ever! We are just hoping all goes well enough so that he can really enjoy the trip and feel good about this quarter. He has been working so hard.
Natalie has been sick for the past week. It started with a stuffy nose and now she's throwing up. A big shout out to Uncle Kent for the humidifier tip. I'm not sure why we didn't think about that but it has been a HUGE help. I am hopeful that she will be feeling better before we have to start moving. Nothing more fun that a sick baby while you're supposed to be productive during the day!
I was talking to my friend, Candace, earlier tonight and ever since I have been thinking about how lucky I am to have her in my life. Everyone should be as fortunate as to have a friend like her in their lives. We met in the eighth grade when she moved to Moses Lake and joined my choir class. (No, I can't sing. Never could, but thought I'd give it try. Come on, it was that or band, or shop class. Not exactly a tough choice for me. And come to think of it I don't think many people in that group could actually carry a tune!) Anyway, I remember one day I told her that I loved rainbow sprinkles on my ice cream. The next day she brought me an entire cup full of rainbow sprinkles! I knew then we would be friends for life!

Here are the other nine reasons I love Candace
9- She had an "in" that allowed me (and Keri and Tiffany) to work with her at Golden Corral. Good memories! (Thanks, Brooks!)
8- She didn't judge me when I did 4-H. In fact, she came and stayed with me at the fair campgrounds.
7- She understands that sometimes the best friends you have don't require a lot of "maintenance." We have been able to pick up after years of not talking to each other and some pretty serious hurt feelings. I am so glad for that!
6- She "decorated" my annual with hearts and similar insignia around all of the pictures of HER high school boyfriend. So now whenever my children read it, they will think I was in love with him!
5- She has a way of making me feel like I'm normal, or that everything will be okay whenever I call her with a "crisis."
4- She went along with the idea that I put a panty liner in my armpit to stop it from bleeding when I cut myself shaving. Then, let me go in public and meet my boyfriend for lunch where it proceeded to fall out of my shirt sleeve. To this day we laugh about this at least once a year.
3- She married the perfect person for her and their relationship encourages and inspires me. Not to mention he is one of the few husbands Parker really, really, likes.
2- She is really funny, and her laugh is contagious. Talking with her always makes me happy!
1- She has one of the kindest and truest hearts of anyone I know. This has made her a great wife, mother and friend.
