The Post Office, to me, is all of Moses Lake crammed into one small building.
Today I arrived at about 3:30 to mail a package. I figured it would take me all of about ten minutes and even if it took 15, I would still have time to make it home before Natalie was too hungry. You can only imagine my surprise when I discovered the line went out both sets of doors and there appeared to be only two employees working at the desk. Of course, I get in line behind the dirty guy (I'll call him Juan) and his two "sisters?" Juan proceeds to whistle at me repeatedly under his breath. Are you kidding me? Luckily, his cell phone rang and he left.
The lady ahead of him in line ended up being the nicest person and she shared stories with me about her two grown children who are 13 months apart. (Yikes) Anyhow, she ended up letting me cut in line because Natalie was fussing.
As I stood there waiting I ran into the most interesting people. Some, it appeared, had recently escaped the Loony Bin, but others were people I hadn't seen in years. And since we had nothing else to do but talk, we were able to catch up in a way that we never would have otherwise.
Finally it was my turn. I can not tell you how nice it is to have helpful people around. I have missed people, like the employee today, who will go the extra mile without making you feel like an inconvenience. (Who knew that when you are shipping a package in a Nutri Grain box, you are supposed to black out the bar code?)
I guess the point of this whole story was just a reminder that even though you have to fend off the occasional Juan, and the pace is a little slower, Moses Lake is a good place to be.

At least someone was whistling at you instead of making fun of you! Yea right!!!!! Sounds like a fun trip to the post office. I usually avoid that place at all costs! (which means, I try to make Wade go instead) Talk to you soon, Love ya~
Camery! Joann showed me your blog when she was here in Vegas! It's so cute! I hadn't seen any pictures of Natalie since the newborn pictures in the emails sent to the family. She is beautiful! I know exactly what you mean - I love my blog, it's almost therapeutic, and please saturate with as many pictures as you can, that's the fun part of these blogs, (plus you get to brag about that adorable little girl of yours). I'm so glad I found you. It keeps us all in touch!
So funny! I always enjoy your comments. You say what we all think. And yes Moses is not so bad after all!
Love ya
JoAnne
Hey there! I hope you made it back to Moses Lake safe and sound! I have two toys of Nat's here, I can send them in the mail if you get me your address. It was good to see you and talk to you again! I just love you Camery and I am so glad I had the chance to meet you! Take Care of yourself and that cute baby girl and we will see you next time you are in town! Let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do for you! Oh and my email is: CrazyDaisey@juno.com!
Hi there! I didn't know that you were back home. You should call me! Your baby is absolutely beautiful -- I can't wait to meet her. My baby is laid up for awhile -- the 2nd broken leg in not even a year. No fun. Anyways, Candace has convinced me that I need a blog, so I made a feeble attempt at it. The link is http://valdezfab5.blogspot.com
Take Care,
Tiffany
Seriously... what's wrong with me when a blog post about a post office can make me cry....
I think I'm a bit homesick at the moment.
I can remember the smell of that place... isn't that funny? The sun shining through the windows... I'm back there in an instant. Why the post office can be so vivid in my mind, I don't know.
oh wait... that's right. It probably has something to do with that fact that I ran over a large mailbox and had to go tell the post master and pay 50.00 bucks for it's repair..... HA!
I sure would like to create some new memories to redeem the old ones...
here's hoping we can get back to NW...
